The New England Patriots, commonly called the "Pats", are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston area, playing their home games in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts. The team is part of the East Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The team changed its name from the original Boston Patriots after relocating the team to Foxborough in 1971, although Foxborough is a suburb of Boston, 22 miles (35 km) away. For the greater part of the 2000 decade, they have been quite the dominant team led by coach Bill Belichick and quarter-back Tom Brady. |
1962-1993 | The original logo of the Boston Patriots (as the team was known) is that of "Pat Patriot". Pat Patriot is the mascot of the New England Patriots, a National Football League franchise. He is a revolutionary minuteman and wears a hat that looks similar to the logo. He also wears the Patriots home uniform (navy blue jersey with silver pants). He wears jersey #1. Interestingly enough, he used to wear the number 0 until 2001 when the team signed veteran linebacker Bryan Cox, who elected to wear 0 until his customary 51 became available after pre-season play concluded. The team used this logo from 1962-1993. |
1993-1999 | The Pats logo from 1993-1993 was the same as the current logo except that the blue was a more brighter shade. |
