The focus of our research is depicted by the DNA structure on the left-hand side, which represents both health sciences and the origins of humanity. On the right-hand side is the depiction of a healthy, vibrant human being.
The use of green stands for 'rebirth and hope'. The MRC leads the way in alleviating South Africa's health burden with our work on the AIDS vaccine, new TB drugs, the reconstruction of bone tissue, and research into factors that lead to crime and violence in our country.
The use of blue embodies the fountain of knowledge that will feed our nation to help improve the quality of life of our people. We are committed to letting this fountain flow for the quenching of our land through both sustainable health interventions and the accumulation of appropriate information that will help our government make decisions regarding the health of South Africa.
